What is the most unique thing you own?

That is the question for the 7th Tell Me Tuesday with Suzanne over at Colorado Lady. and is also great for Vintage Thursday that is also hosted by Suzanne

This is a bit harder question to answer.  Like Suzanne, I have sever things I would consider unique and treasures, but will only share the history and picture of one.

When I found out I was expecting our first child we went to an auction with my mother in law.  There was a beautiful wood highchair that had a clip on porcelain tray.
We had bid up as high as we felt we could, my husband was enlisted army, and we had an antique dealer bidding against us.  When we stopped bidding the dealer was so happy...until Grandma, to be, stepped in to bid.  He took one look at her determined face and quit bidding!  If I remember right we paid $35. for it. That was 37 years ago.  An older man, who had been the previous owner, stopped us later and said that it had been in his family as long as anyone could remember and that it had come to Kansas on a covered wagon!  Part of the uniqueness is that  any I have seen either the tray or clips were gone.  The foot rest is sitting waiting to have the pegs redrilled, someone used it as a ladder...
The tray is on a swival and was used at the table until our son was about 4.

The high chair still sits in our dinning room and is used anytime little ones come to visit.

Blessings and enjoy thinking about your answer to this weeks question.

Oh. My. Goodness. I absolutely ADORE THIS CHAIR. I have never, ever seen one like this one!! What a treasure and certainly is as unique as they come.

This is a beauty!! There is no telling what that chair might be worth today, although it is a family treasure which makes it priceless!!

Thank you for sharing your story and unique highchair.....I will be thinking about this fantastic treasure the rest of the day I am sure. Have a great Tuesday!!

This high chair is lovely! I am so glad you own this. I have my Mom's original high chair but the tray has long been gone. All her siblings sat in it, most of the grandchildren and lot of great grands. It's mine now and will be passed on to my daughter one day! hugs, Linda

That chair is so sweet! What was a wonderful heirloom for another family is now one for yours.

With so many plas5tic chairs being made now, it certainly is unique!

That is crazy awesome! I'm always in awe when I hear stories like the one you told us about your chair. I agree with Nani about how one family's heirloom has now become yours. Thanks so much for sharing that with us!

You we're really fortunate to get this. It's such a neat piece. Wonder who else will get to sit in this? I don't think it will be long.Hugs Ann
