Day 1-Basingstoke

I have been on a whirllwind trip to Europe.

L taking a picture of the luggage....

Packed the bags and ready to go...
Leaving on a jet plane..

The first ting I did after landing was check my messages.
You see our youngest granddaughter was born while I was in flight!
Ena Roane was born at 3:15 am on 3-15!

I do believe I have some of the most beautiful grandchildren in the world!

Two very tired ladies arriving in London Airport
After arriving we were met with a two hour line in customs!  From what our driver said this is very unsual.
Hubby had a private car pick us up so we didn't have to manage our luggage and the trains on our first day.

Tea at the hotel

Basingstoke Hotel.
L took her guitar on the trip

Blimmy, I'm in England!
(our favorite word our cabbie used)

My sweet Hubby had to go on a business trip to Basingstoke, England.  This is about an hour outside London.  He flew out on Saturday and my oldest granddaughter and I followed on the following Wednesday.

This gave us a day to catch up on the time difference before we headed out on our adventure on Saturday morning.

For the next few weeks I will be sharing pictures and memories of our trip.

L and I went to the mall on Friday morning.  She bought a really cute pair of boots that were maked down to 5 lb wich was about $7.50! They were originally over $60.
Just wish they had my size! We took the cab back to the hotel about 3:30 in the afternoon.  When we walked up to the cabs this pink cab was the second in line.

Just as we arrived the front cab drove off!
I acted like a school girl.

What a perfect PINK Saturday post!
Turned out it is the ONLY pink cab in England.
He hires out to do Weddings and Hen Parties which are like our bachelorette parties.

Friday evening we took a taxi to a small pub called the Swan.
Hubby had the taxi take us pass a beautiful hotel he had stayed in on a different trip.
The cabbie let us take time to take some pictures.

3 Kiln Road, Sherborne St John, Basingstoke, Hampshire RG24 9HS, United Kingdom

situated in the lovely village of Sherborne St John.

We had wonderful fish and chips.

I do believe everywhere we visited I said the same thing...I could spend a week or two just visiting here.
Hope you enjoyed our first day in England.  Hope to see you again next week!

Week 9 question

Week 9

This question reminded me of this room I did for a friend.

Is it out of reach?

Or have you just not stretched yourself  far enough?

I worked on a painting this week and feel like throwing it in the trash.  After years of doing murals I have lost my touch on canvas in oils... It makes me so sad.  Then I read this weeks question.

Wow, maybe I just am not stretching myself enough. It used to come easy, without practice, well it just isn't there anymore.

Do I give up or keep stretching.
THAT is my question I must wrestle with this week.

How about you?  How would you answer this question?  Think about it then join in over a Colorado Lady and let us know your area you need to stretch.

Thanks for the push Suzanne

H is for health

is for Home and Health

I love my HOME.

It isn't a house,  a house is just an empty shell.

My home is where we love and care for each other.
Where we make memories that get us through the tough times that show up in this life.
Where I know I am safe and cherished.

Health
If you knew me well, you would proably question my thinking on this one. I have struggled with my Health, Old Arthur sitting in pretty bad in my spine, torn legiment in my foot, but here is the reasoning.

I am able to get out of bed, my biggest joy in the morning is getting up and seeing my Hubby off to work.

I can walk, a friend at church had a surgery gone bad and is now in a wheelchair.

I can lift the Laundry basket, my mom shattered her shoulder last October and is still struggling.

I can feel pain, some have had accidents that leave them with only their minds working.

You see, on September 17 2008 I had a major stroke and God orchestrated the timing. I was able to be at the Hospital  in time to receive the life changing TPA(tissue plasminogen activator) drug. When administrated I had no feeling or movement and very slurred speech that took minutes to only get out a sound or two. There were two hospitals within the same distance, in opposite directions, turned out the one I was sent to was the only one that had the TPA drug on hand.

So for my letter H I am so thankful for my  Home, Health and the right Hospital.

Blessings, Debbie

Blue Monday, new do

Welcome to The Paint Splash, Hope you enjoy your visit.  If you have time click on DDDesigns above and check out some of my art.

FIRST...My NEW do...

The old very heavy look.
Short and sassy! Love this shade of blue for Blue Monday!

We went out in the new car with the top down last week and
I knew long hair just wasn't gonna make it without driving me crazy.
This is SO much eaiser with my thick hair.
Don't you LOVE the blue skys and water with this old barn?
Last week was beautiful and I went out with my camera looking for those special shots.

Have a great week and Blessings, Debbie

Vintage Styling

Several years ago I went tto the goodwill and bought some clothes I thought might work for a vintage photo shoot with my granddaughter.  I sat up some props then did the pictures in sepia.
We had so much fun.

This little table sat in the kitchen corner for the Grands to color etc.

Love this table which was made by my MIL father.

The photo on the shelf is my FIL grand parents wedding picture

Found this school desk in the trash. Can't believe I let it go when we moved.  We went from a house that had a  game room and 6 bedrooms to a 3 bedroom no storage place.  But I love living here on the lake.

Love her toothless grin.
