Day 7 Southern France to Pisa, Italy

Day 7 of our Europe Vacation

After some wonderful breakfast at the St Bauch B & B we took off for the French Rivera Cost line then drove over to Pisa, Italy.

Our Drive took us through the center of  Monaco  home to the Grand Prix and many Royal Weddings, to include Prince Rainier III to Grace Kelly

There are some amazing facts to be read about Monaco.   Monaco is a sovereign state boardered by France on three sides and the Mediterranean Sea.  It is 9.9 miles from Italy. It's land boarder is only 2.7 miles and 2.5 miles of coastland and the width is between 1.1 mil and 382 YARDS!
It's first casino opened in the late 19th century.
Monaco boasts the highest paid person per capita at $186,175.  With a 0% unemployement rate.
It's real estate goes for $56,300 per square metre.
It homes the highest number of millionaires and billonaires per capita in the world.

We stopped at a grocery store and bought cheeses, bread, sliced meat and fruit and had a wonderful lunch sitting at the edge of the water.

Driving on into Italy we enjoyed beauitful vistas of mountains and went through several tunnels.

Our hotel was right around the corner from the Leaning Tower of Pisa.  Did you know the tower was only built to be the bell tower for the church?
I wonder if it hadn't been structurally deficient if we
would ever had heard of it
For many years the tower was closed to visitors, it has been reinforced so that it is again safe.
Funny though, they didn't straighten it.

That's our drive through the south of France into Pisa Italy.  Tomorrow we head for Venicia. Hope you will join us.

Blessings, Debbie

When Johnny and I visited Italy, in 1994, the Pisa Tower was surrounded by a fence which prevented anyone from getting too close! Thanks for sharing your blues.

Happy Blue Monday, Debbie.

Oh wow, the south of France looks awesome. I've always thought Monaco would be so beautiful. I'm sure the pictures do not do the beauty justice.
