Kansas Born Cowgirl at Heart
One of my favorite times is when I get to go home to Kansas and visit family.
Over Labor day we did just that. My wonderful hubby took off work Thursday and Friday so that gave us FIVE days not just a weekend.
We drove half way and spent the night outside Saint Louis then drove in Thursday morning.
Ann (Tin and Sparkle) and I went with my hubby to lunch at a favorite stop when we go home. Oklahoma Joe's BBQ started in this gas station in 1991. It took a small corner when they opened. Now it takes well over half of the building and you can expect to stand in line at both the lunch and dinner hour.

Second stop was the Velvet Creme Popcorn store. This shop opened in 1937 in a small store front on 43rd. street on the Kansas side. I LOVE their popcorn. We lived on 43rd as children so we walked past the shop on the way to and from school. A nickel would by a lot back then....Don't you love their red popcorn bag planters. I had my camera out before Ann so I get to post it...lol
Friday morning Ann, my hubby (our chauffeur) and I headed out to Sparks Kansas for a huge flee market. The trip alone was quite an adventure. We followed the gps rather than the road closed detour signs. hmm did we ever get off on some crazy hilly dirt roads. Wouldn't have been as bad if they hadn't had 3 inches of rain the night before. To say the least we took the truck to the car was before Ann's hubby saw it!
Saturday morning our younger sister drove up and met us for the day. We had SOOOO much fun.
One "treasure" Ann wanted was an antique toy truck to decorate for the holidays.Well, Lori and I didn't want to be left out it was such a cute idea and ALL three of us found trucks. We plan on posting them and having a vote on the best for bragging rights.
We will be giving away a miniature antique truck decorated.
Make sure you come back by and check for the post.
Have a blessed week. Debbie
