Blue Alligators and Elephants

Another Blue Monday With Sally
A great way to start a new week!
http://smilingsally.blogspot.com//

Today I want to take you from nothing to blue elephants.
This nursery was based on a comforter and bumper pad that the home owner had chosen for their nursery.   We started with a very white room.  I always draw the room to scale on graph paper first and consult with the owner to make sure that is what they had in mind.

Next using a level I choose where the horizon line will be.  Then the fun begins. Sketching any objects that come above the horizon line like the tree and giraffe.

I then fill in the background color using a roller after cutting in with a brush.  Now, I've done this for awhile for I don't use tape at the ceiling anymore but if it's your first time...you better tape!

A room like this could be done by anyone with a good steady hand and a little imagination.  Use a coloring book and draw the figures on clear plastic and borrow an overhead projector! Your church or school might have one you could use.
My purpose in life was to give joy to those who couldn't afford expensive artist to come in so since I can no long do this myself, I'll pass my secrets along.
And hopefully I can inspire you to try out your hidden talent.
For shadowing choose where your light source would be and make it simple.  It really doesn't even have to be done.

And NOW for my (drum roll please...)
Blue alligator and Blue elephants.
Aren't they fun?

Make sure you check out all the other great Monday Blues
to chase away and real blues!
