Nothern California

After driving through Nevada we reached Northern California

The snow was heavy and we had to stop and put on the chains we had purchased before starting the trip.  When on the highway they have workers stopping cars and checking that you have chains before you can go on.

Beautiful but scary to drive thru

We stopped at Truckee, California in Donner Pass to check the weather.  Not being on a schedule we thought we could find a room and just hang out while the storm to passed.  It was snowing so hard I stayed in the car so we could keep the windows clean.  Hubby came out and we headed on down the road.  They were expecting 5 FEET of snow that evening and next day.

God's timing is so perfect.  When we got back on the highway we were blessed to be right behind 3 snow plows then a highway patrol car.  We had a perfect escort through that heavy storm.  we passed many cars who were stuck along the side of the road.

It's amazing how quickly things changed.

love this shot

Make sure you enlarge this to see the sculpture.

Just stayed in California long enough to get to southern Oregon.
We were headed to our son and family for Christmas Day.
Come Back so much more to see on this Great Adventure.

Oh that first picture looks majestic!!! So glad you were safe and careful. I bet the sign about chains kinda made you nervous. So happy for you two.

such a beautiful landscape. Snow chains are rarely used in Sweden. I think only those who clear the road does.
