Driving through Colorado

I love this part of the country. 

It isn't uncomon as we drive to stop just to read a sign.  

The Elk are amazing to see.  Love how the snow had still not completely melted. 

 This trip was taken in July of 2013.

 Of course we had to stop at the Trail Ridge Store and Cafe Estes Park Elevation 11,796!

Stopped for a hike and loved these pink/purple flowers

The trail went through the valley into a higher wooded area.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

Bob and I decided to drive out West to see our son and his family in Oregon.  

A joyful part of retirement! Do what we want when we want.

Taking our time and visiting as many National Parks as we could we started at Rocky Mountain National Park.  Pour Bob had to keep reminding me it is a Park not a Forrest.  

We drove through the park and stopped many times to hike a bit and take pictures.

Can you find this one?  She or He, was carrying grass into it's den.  

We were amazed to read about the temperatures and life in these high mountains.

There were plaques along the trail telling lots of facts 

and giving some of us a reason to stop and catch our breath!

One interesting fact was that the flowers are very small and close to the ground to escape the high winds that would kill them.

desert flower

The past 3 weeks have been spent traveling again.  This trip took us West to visit our son and family and to many National Parks.  

Today I want to share a favorite picture of one of the desert flowers we took.

St. Martin

On our last cruise one of the islands we visited was St. Martin.

A must for most travelers to have a photo opt with a pirate.

I never though a Segway would be so easy to ride! And so much fun!

We were there with so wonderful friends from church.  Ernie is a car lover so this was a perfect prop for a picture of my honey, in the striped shirt and Ernie.
