Shadow Shot Sunday

Loved visiting the Oregon Coast with our son and granddaughter last week.  We had a beautiful day for getting our feet wet in the Pacific Ocean

Santorini

There isn't a more beautiful sight in the Mediterranean
than the blue roofs of Santorini
It's hard to believe we have been blessed with health and finances to be able to visit such amazing parts of this world.

Loved this beautiful church and the priest sitting in the lower left corner of the picture

Breakfast.   Departure to National Park Plitvice lakes - about 2,5 hours ride. Upon arrival accommodation in pansion Winnetou. Day at leisure for sightseeing of the most beautiful Croatian National park.

We had been told how amazing this National Park would be.  It lives up to it's reputation and a definite stop if you are in Croatia.   Rick Steves says it better than I ever could!
"There’s nothing like this lush valley of 16 terraced lakes, laced together
by waterfalls and miles of pleasant plank walks."
 https://www.ricksteves.com/watch-read-listen/croatias-stunning-plitvice-lakes.

It was cool with rain off and on throughout the day.  We did not go with a group so we could walk at our pace and take in the beauty of the fall colors.

Our Hotel Winnetou

This was a strange find in Croatia, it had been built by Americans and was full of Indian artifacts. Not the cosy 1500's most of our hotels were.

The start of our day at the park.  So glad we had our umbrellas

And the day got longer, cooler and darker...Bob even changed coats with me because his was warmer.  We knew the last bus back to the cars was at 6 pm...at 6:30 we finally found a parking lot that was for employes...so tankful to find a way out.
I guess our wandering got a bit out of hand.
we never did figure out where we took a wrong turn.

Yes I really was that tired and afraid we would be spending the night on a park bench.

Croatia 2014

It has been months since I posted my last post.  During that time, we sold our lake home and built a home in a retirement community.  Selling the lake home was a difficult decision but we found that we would need to choose to travel or be on the lake.  We both LOVE to travel and we decided we can always make time for a week at a lake with family somewhere between their homes and ours.

Our travels have been amazing so far.

After a cruise on the Mediterranean we stayed in Europe and rented a car.  We drove from Italy to Croatia  and Slovenia.
Excited when we saw this bright blue sign!

Here are a few pictures of our fist day's drive and hotel in Rovinj.

Who would not love having this beautiful vintage cart in your yard?

I Love vintage cobblestone  streets, except when pulling luggage!

Wouldn't you love to have this as your door to your quiet space?

Hum, is supposed to be the smallest town in the world.  Hum...it must be, we drove , and drove and never found it.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hum,_Croatia#mediaviewer/File:Hum_–_najmanji_grad_na_svijetu.jpg
This photo just looks mystical to me.

The typical historical architecture of Rovinj, dating back to the old Rovinj houses of the 1500’s, is an example of medieval architecture of the Mediterranean.
Loved this room It would be perfect in any vintage home.

Blessings, Debbie
