Hey there Welcome to my "new norm"
My hubby Bob retired on 12/12/12! So now we are trying to figure out, do we buy a second computer or share time on this one.
The first thing we did on this new adventure was take a month long treck across the west from Indiana. We started by picking up my mom and sister in southern Missouri and driving them to Kansas City. Visited my hubbys parent's in west central Kansas, then set on our vacation.
Hope you enjoy traveling with us over the next few weeks.
We drove west to Doge City. We didn't stay long, but I loved this
building.
In Lakin, Kansas we visited the Kerarny County Musuem. I tried to find a link for you but, they don't have one.
It was a great display of many aspects of the wagon trail for the 1820-1870's.
If you have driven through Kansas you know much of it is flat, just imagine doing that in a wagon!
I was really impressed the this museum lots of artifacts down to a section of a human scalp! The story was the man was being scalped and was rescued. The woman in the area that did the "doctoring" sewed his his scalp back on but had small part leftt over! He survived and went on the live a normal life. The woman kept the section of scalp.
I grew up in Kansas,
so much of the history I just took for granted.
Hope you will come back and visit for weeks of everything from Donners Pass to the ocean to the desert.
Blessings, Debbie
