California highway 1

Northern California to Napa Valley
continuing the saga of our great retirement adventure

We spent the day driving Highway 1 south to
Fort Bragg, California.
We had a lovely seafood dinner there with a
beautiful view of the bridge.as the sun went down.
I love the yellow lights reflected on the water.

After resting for the night we started driving inland toward Napa Valley.  Some of these roads were real hairpin turns and I was so glad it was daylight so we could enjoy the view and
maneuver the roads.

I never tired of the view of range upon range of mountains.

Along the road we passed many farms and Vineyards.  This barn and sheep caught my eye.  I had my husband turn around and go back so I could get a picture.

I love these wooly mommas and their little lambs.

One of the many vineyards we saw.

On this part of the trip we decided to contact a cousin I had never met.  He and his wife live on a lake about an hour from San Francisco. His father was one of my dad's brothers.  Uncle Frank had died when my cousin was young and his mother moved away.  Gary is about 12 years older than I am.  He had been working on a book of family history for our dad's side of the family.  We spent a wonderful evening pouring over the history and pictures.  They took us out to dinner and we spent the night at their place.  I am so glad we were able to make this stop in our trip, and enjoy getting to know this cousin and his wife.

Still more to come in this
"Our Great Adventure"
hope you will come back next week.
 Blessings, Debbie

Oh, this was fun, and a trip down memory lane for me. I haven't driven that road for about 35 years. It's good to see that it's still so beautiful. I love the photo of that old barn!
